I found this paragraph i wrote from last year. it was lost beneath my computer files. i found it interesting:
December 19th 2008
i've started looking at life from a different point of view. No it wasn't my news years resolution or anything but just a sudden change, and i couldnt even control it. You see, i;ve always looked at my brother as just an annoying addition to our family, and we always fought over the stupidiest things, just for something to do. But yesterday afternoon, he was riding a bike and the front wheel like, literally came off and he face planted into the concrete gutter. He ended up going to hospital and while lankey and i waited the 6 hours in the waiting room, i had never ever felt so scared for him in my life. Just the way he was shaking and crying and dripping blood everywhere made me realised how afraid he was. I thought about how badly i'd treated him over the years and realised how much of a blessing it was that i had a little brother like him. Eventaully the nurse let us in to see him, but he was asleep on the bed, shivering from how cold it was in the hospital. His lips were swollen three times the size they were normally and you could see where his teeth had peirced through. It was so sad and terrifying that i couldn't control it. The doctor came back with the results and luckily, he hadn't done anything too serious, but just the fact that if one different thing happened or if he landed a different way, he couldnt been scarred for life. They let us take him home and on the car ride home, he gently placed his head on my shoulder and said 'thankyou' softly. It really did make me realise you have to cherish everything and everyone close to you, and make the most of the time you have left with them.
